Oats Chilla or Salty Oats Pancake

Hello Everyone,

'A good breakfast fuels you up and gets you ready for the day.'

So, nothing is better than having oats in breakfast to kick start the day.
Rich in fiber, high in protein, low in fat, gluten free and a dish made in less oil = Healthy Day

The recipe that I am sharing with you all today is 'Oats Chilla' or 'Oats Pura ' or 'Salty Oats Pancake'. Usually, the chilla is made from besan(gram flour) but these pancakes are made from oats and quantity of besan (gram flour) added to it is less which makes them extremely filling and light.

Here goes the recipe:

Cook Time: 10 - 15 Minutes

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup, powdered - Oats
  •  ½ cup - Besan (gram flour)
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Red chili powder
  • ½ tsp - Black Pepper powder
  • ½ tsp - Ajwain Seeds (Carom seeds)
  • ½ tsp - Jeera (Cumin) Powder
  • 2-3 small, chopped finely - Green chili
  • ½ teaspoon - Ginger, freshly grated or finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves – 2-3 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • 1 small, finely chopped - Onion
  • 1 small, grated - Carrot
  • 2 cups - Water
  • 1 tsp (as required) - Olive Oil

Method :

  • Firstly powder the oats in the grinder . Take it in a bowl and add besan to it.
  • In the oats besan mixture, add salt, ajwain, jeera powder , turmeric powder ,black pepper powder and red chili powder. Mix well.
  • Also mix in chopped green chilies, ginger and coriander leaves.
  • Now add chopped onions and grated carrot. Mix well
  • Now start by adding a little water and keep mixing.
  • Make smooth, thick yet runny consistency batter.
  • Now heat the pan on medium heat. Once hot, drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil in a pan and then add ladleful or spoonful of batter and spread it evenly into the round.
  • Make sure it is not too thick. Let the chilla or pancake cook. Cook it on low heat
  • By pressing lightly, cook another side as well.
  • Once ready, serve hot with Green Chutney.

Note :
  • Its advisable to make it in non- stick pan so that the batter doesn't stick to the base of your pan and it gets easy for you to flip it without creating a mess.

Happy Eating !!!
